Cardinal Mario Grech to Celebrate Holy Mass in Other Jubilee Churches

The papal legate, Cardinal Mario Grech, will arrive in the Diocese of Spiš ahead of the main Jubilee celebration. During his visit, he will also celebrate Holy Mass in other Jubilee churches of the Diocese of Spiš.

Pope Leo XIV has appointed Cardinal Mario Grech as his Special Envoy to the main celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the canonical establishment of the Diocese of Spiš. The main Jubilee celebration will take place on Saturday, 26 September 2026, at the Cathedral of St Martin in Spišská Kapitula.

Cardinal Mario Grech, however, will arrive in the Diocese of Spiš several days earlier. His visit will provide an opportunity to meet the faithful beyond Spišská Kapitula and to celebrate the Eucharist together in the Jubilee churches of the diocese.

Culmination of the Visit

The visit of the papal legate to the Diocese of Spiš will culminate on Saturday, 26 September, at 10:30 a.m. with a solemn Holy Mass at the Cathedral of St Martin in Spišská Kapitula, marking the 250th anniversary of the canonical establishment of the Diocese of Spiš.

During his visit, Cardinal Mario Grech will travel to several parts of the Diocese of Spiš, where he will celebrate the Eucharist together with the faithful. His presence will provide an opportunity for personal encounters with the various communities of the diocese and for celebrating the Jubilee Year together in communion with the Holy Father and the universal Church.
